Ridley spills beans on Prometheus

Ridley Scott has given fans a taste of what the notoriously secretive Prometheus is about.

Speaking to the audience at CineEurope, the director revealed the movie will look at how humans came to be, suggested they had some extra-terrestrial help along the way.

The film stars Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender and was originally thought to be a straight prequel to the Alien franchise. However, co-writer Damon Lindelof and Scott have since suggested Prometheus will be a stand-alone film merely set in the Alien universe before the timeframe of the 1979 original.

Website io9 announced they received the full synopsis from anonymous sources and the story (POSSIBLE SPOILER!) sees the Weyland Corporation send a spaceship to make contact with the Space Jockeys of the original, who it's revealed genetically engineered the human race. When the human crew get a little greedy, the Space Jockeys unleash their favoured biological weapon - you know, that thing with the teeth, acid blood and penchant for causing severe tummyaches.

Prometheus, which also stars Charlize Theron and Idris Elba, is due out next year.
