Superheroes go short

About a year ago there was a rumour that Marvel was planning to make various live-action ten-minute short films which would be used to introduce their lesser known superhero characters to mainstream audiences. Then silence.

It makes sense, playing these before a main feature (as Pixar does) so the ones that get a great reception could be spun-off into their own film.

Now, the US website Film School Rejects report that sources say two shorts have already been shot with Clark Gregg reprising his role as Agent Coulson from the Iron Man films.

The resulting efforts however won't be showing in cinemas, but are set to appear on the DVD and Blu-Ray releases of Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger later in the year.

Depending on how well these are received, more shorts featuring unknown characters from the Marvel universe may follow.
