It's Office-ial: The return of David Brent

He’s probably the most famous boss there’s ever been in Slough. Then he disappeared. And now, 10 years on, we’re about to find out what happened to David Brent, the manager from hell in The Office.

Ricky Gervais is coming back as Brent for a one-off Comic Relief special to be shown on Red Nose Day on BBC 1 on March 15.

Apparently Brent is now working in a menial job, but is still pursuing his passion for music and is managing rap acts.

On the show's return, Gervais said: "I thought it was time to revisit my most famous comedy creation to find out what he's been up to for the last decade and most importantly what he's up to now.

"He is passing on his wisdom to younger would-be rock stars now and is living vicariously through a young performer, Dom Johnson.”

The Office originally aired from 2001-2003 on BBC 2 and soon became one of the most successful comedies of the noughties, spawning a long-running US version starring Steve Carell.

Life with Oscar

It was third time lucky at the Oscars for two of Britain's finest craftspeople, costume designer Jacqueline Durran and make-up/hair artist Lisa Westcott.

After nominations for two of Joe Wright's earlier films, Pride and Prejudice and Atonement, Durran (below) finally snared the statuette at the 85th Academy Awards for her work on Anna Karenina.

For Westcott, her reward, shared with Julie Dartnell, finally came for Les Miserables after missing out twice before, for Mrs Brown and Shakespeare in Love.

Their Oscars completed a distinguished double as Durran and Westcott had also won BAFTAs for their work a fortnight earlier

Dyerbolical takings for Danny!

Danny Dyer's latest film, the critically-panned Run For Your Wife (our man gave it a bomb rating)  looks like it’s dying a death after taking just £602 at the UK box office over its opening weekend.

That means it took an average of £67 at each of the nine cinemas where it is screening, though preview takings of £320 earlier boosted the total somewhat. And to be fair most of the cinemas only showed it on the Sunday.

The film, an adaptation of Ray Cooney's 1983 West End farce, is set to expand to a further 65 cinemas across the UK this weekend, mostly Odeons, and mostly in late morning (Senior Screen) or early afternoon slots, so it’s not all over yet.

Run For Your Wife stars Dyer as a taxi driver who battles desperately to prevent his two wives (played by Sarah Harding and Denise Van Outen) from coming face to face.

Blade Runner - The Sequel

Filmmakers have dithered for years about making a biopic of South African sporting hero Oscar Pistorius, the man who, twin-bladedly, helped make Paralympics fashionable.

What better film material than the inspiring story of a handsome chap who after becoming a double amputee (below the knee) at just 11 months went on to conquer the world of disabled athletics and also make a significant mark on the able-bodied variety, too.

The golds kept rolling in, including two at London 2012, even after he was beaten by a Brit in his shoo-in event, the 100 metres.

But still no movie, until ... What's the betting Hollywood is now, finally, lining up for the rights in the wake of the shocking news that the Rainbow Nation's 26-year-old white darling has been arrested and charged with the murder of his picture perfect model girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp (see below)?

It makes a cracking, darkly disturbing "third act" to what began as an inspirational tale of triumph-over-adversity. Even his first name is surely a presage of the rewards to come in Tinseltown.
