Captain not-quite-everywhere America

In true red white and blue Captain America: The First Avenger will be known as exactly that in the US. But producers Paramount and Marvel, mindful of the reaction such a jingoistic title might provoke in other countries, offered them the choice of two titles for the film: Captain America: The First Avenger, or just The First Avenger.

All but three countries have opted for the first, with just Russia, Ukraine and South Korea deciding that the brand identification associated with Captain America was more likely to be a turn-off than a selling point, The Guardian reports today.

A decision has still to be reached on whether the film will be released in China, which has a policy of screening just 20 foreign films a year
