Delhi Belly banned in Nepal

The Bollywood buddy crime comedy Delhi Belly, which opened to consistently good reviews in the UK at the weekend with a 15 certificate -- movie1's man in the stalls gave it three stars -- has been banned in Nepal.

The Censor Board of Nepal had asked cinema owners to delete some scenes which contained "offensive" language, before screening the film. But the cinemas went ahead with the uncut version anyway. The Censor Board filed a complaint against them and now the Kathmandu district administration has banned the screening of the movie until further notice.

The film --  a cross between The Hangover and Lock, Stock and Three Smoking Barrels given the full Bollywood treatment, stars Imran Khan, Vir Das and Kunaal Roy Kapur as three Delhi flatmates who fall foul of a vicious crime boss when a stool sample from one of them who has gone down with "Delhi belly" after eating a dodgy tandoori, is mistakenly switched with a Russian doll containing diamonds destined for the crime boss.
