Stranger Tides is now the 7th biggest film ever

Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides has become just the eighth film to hit the $1billion mark at the worldwide box office, and currently it's the seventh biggest film of all time.
This is despite underperforming at the US box office, where its $233.7million gross comfortably makes it the weakest of the Pirates franchise there. However, it's the third biggest film of all time based on non-US takings.
By the end of its run, Pirates/Stranger Tides is likely to overtake Alice In Wonderland, but perhaps fall short of Toy Story 3, which would make it the sixth biggest film of all time.

But time is running short, as its  DVD and Blu-ray release has been set for September 12 in the UK, with worldwide release soon afterwards.

The Top 10 films ever (at the time of writing) are:

1. Avatar (2009) $2,781,505,847
2. Titanic (1997) $1,835,300,000
3. The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003) $1,119,102,868
4. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (2006) $1,065,896,541
5. Toy Story 3 (2010) $1,062,984,497
6. Alice in Wonderland (2010) $1,023,285,206
7. Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011) $1,002,000,000 (estimated)
8. The Dark Knight (2008) $1,001,921,825
9. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (2001) $968,657,891
